Zerno Z1 & Z2 Wide Steel Hopper + Silicone Bellows Combo

This Wide Hopper for the Zerno Z1 / Z2 offers an easier dosing experience and is designed to perfectly fit our super low profile Silicone Bellows to help you clear out the retention and chaff inside the grinder and chute, reaching up to 0.0g retention, while looking great.

If you've watched the James Hoffmann video about the Zerno Z1, you'll know that the two things he wished the Z1 had was a bigger hopper and a solution for clearing some of the retention, which my hopper and bellows combo does.

This hopper completely replaces your Zerno Z1 / Z2 stock hopper.

 

Design Features

Simplicity and maximum effectiveness are my design goals, and both are carefully infused in my hopper and bellows design.

V1.0 vs V1.1

V1.1 hoppers are available since March 2025. Between V1.0 and V1.1, there are very minor aesthetic differences. The V1.1 has a slightly thicker rim at the top, resulting in a very slightly larger diameter, and a different brushed finish compared to V1.0. All caps will fit on both versions, but the diameter may be off by 0.5-1.0mm with mismatched versions. Wooden caps made before March 2025 all have the smaller diameter to match V1.0. Wooden and Steel caps after March 2025 will have the slightly larger diameter to match V1.1. While V1.0 is made of SUS316, V1.1 is made of SUS304, which matches the spec of the stock hopper. 

Blemished Option

There were a few pieces from the batch that turned out below the standard of what I was looking for. I don't like to waste, so I'm offering these "blemished" pieces at a discounted price. These pieces may have the following issues, but not limited to: large visual blemishes on the exterior surface like scratches, dents, chips. Despite these visual blemishes, they have the same fit and are fully functional.

Disclaimer

• Grinding after changing grind size or using darker roasts/oilier beans may increase retention.
• Achieve the best results with lighter roasted beans and at a consistent grind size setting.
• This listing is for the Wide Hopper and optional bellows only. It does not include the grinder nor stock hopper.
• Video from @jerney used with permission. Hopper shown in video is the very first prototype before v1.0, which had a slightly loose fit and has since been fixed.
